About Us

The Crofut Family Winery & Vineyard is a 63-acre farm and vineyard. There are 6.5 acres of commercial vines planted in 2003-2004, including University of Minnesota varieties: Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, and LaCrescent. The test vineyard, located at the entrance to the property, is assessing experimental grape vine varieties for hardiness, disease resistance and of course, taste!

The Crofut family has been making wine for three generations. Don has won numerous awards for his winemaking at State and County Fairs. Visitors will see the grape harvest and processing of grapes for juice and wine production.

Check our our virtual tour of the vineyard!
All guests are welcome to walk the vineyards. To arrange a live tour of our winemaking facility, cask room and bottling area, call us at 952-492-3227.

About the Crofut Family Vineyards

The primary family vineyard consists of 6.5 acres on the property. The top three acres is underlain by Ordovician limestone that was not eroded; Webster alluvial clay loam on top.

Our partner growers:

  • Zimmermans, South of Waseca

  • Zieglers 4 acres just north of St. Peter

  • Goettl’s north of Montgomery

  • Lau’s 2 acres west of Waseca.

  • Double V Vineyard Pat Valencour, 3 miles west of winery location

  • Montgomery’s, 2 miles south of our winery location

At the Crofut Family Winery, winemaking is an art and a science. Grapes are picked by hand and wines are aged in oak barrels. Crofut Family Winery houses the bottling, labeling and distribution of the wines.
